  • The Hongxing 红星 Red Star model 502 is the first totally in China made tube radio including Chinese tubes. The 502 has an autotransformer, which means that the chassis is under power!

The Hongxing 红星 502 is similar to Philco 46-806, sold as Hongxing 红星 501 but uses other tubes. These tubes were the first working horses in China for 5 tube superhets. In March 1951 the first professional radio tube factory was installed in Nanjing and in November 1952 the tubes were ready. On March 25, 1953 the 红星 Red Star 502 was born.
