• This is a universal AC/DC set, without doubler, actual examples may have the UR1 or CY1 halfwave instead of the UR2 (no modifications needed). The UR2 was replaced by the CY2 before 1939.

  Due to the 1939-1945 war in the UK many tubes became unvailable, especially from 1941. Mullard, Trader, and others published replacement guides from at least 1943, so surviving examples may have P8A base changed and B7 base UR3C fitted, which outlasted the UR1, UR1C, UR2, CY1 and CY2 rectifiers. 

  See also the 1945 issue Trader sheet 725 for the 1935 Vidor CN213 for an explanation of the rectifier. The CN213 is an almost identical design in the same year, but the Trader schematic is detailed.

  The original Curlew Trader sheet has no details, but lists correct connections of the UR2 while listing it as a VR2.

  This has the same chassis as the Kingfisher Universal set.
