  • The Allied Radio Knight kit Ocean Hopper model 83-225 was the third generation of the famous Knight-kit Ocean Hopper series.  It was offered post-war from 1946 (using a 117L7 which was changed to 117P7 in 1947) to 1953 as described in the Allied catalogs for those years.  It came with two coils to cover the broadcast band.  A set of four coils to cover from 9.5 to 217 meters was offered as part 60-680 for an additional $1.47 in the 1946 catalog.  A 5 inch PM speaker, part number 81-601, was offered as an accessory for an additional $2.43.  In the 1950 catalog, the speaker was dropped from the ad as an accessory, but a 2000 ohm headset, part number 59-110 was substituted as an accessory for $1.42.  Shipping weight was listed as 8 pounds and the accessory coils and speaker at 2 pounds each.

In the 1954 Allied catalog, the fourth generation Ocean Hopper, model 740, was introduced.
