  • Anotaciones
  • The semi-conductor specification is unusual. There are only six transistors but four diodes. The second AS148 listed above is used as a diode with the emitter lead cut off! Either an OA90 or a 1N87A could be used as the Detector Diode. All transistors are Silicon but the OA90 and OA91 diodes are Germanium. From its usage in biasing the push/pull output transistors, the AS9M appears to be Silicon.

The B67 was originally sold with a leather carrying case with a hand strap. Provision is made for an earphone which is fed through an 330R resistor so a "Crystal" or "Ceramic" earphone would have been the preferred option for personal listening.

The loudspeaker is quoted at 33R impedance (at 400Hz) and the tuning range goes quite high, for an MW receiver at 1770kHz.

This radio uses a small, plastic dielectric tuning capacitor but the plate shaping puts the mid frequency stations about 15 degrees clockwise of centre in the 180 degree "handspan" tuning.

In keeping with its unambitious RF stage of only two transistors, only Capital City stations are marked on the dial but with a dial diameter of 50mm the higher end of the dial scale is quite cramped.

The Silicon transistors hold up well after half a century whereas the electrolytic caps do not and all AWA portables of this era with the case back secured with a single screw risk the screw being overtightened and the circuit board being cracked.

Weight is without the leather case but includes the 2362 battery which is no longer available.
