• AWA Radiola Model B15

  A modern designed mantel radio with fingertip adjustment to tuning, volume and tone with small diameter torpedo type control knobs. High sensitivity oval speaker. Five valve AC operated. Colours: black. sherwood green, oriental red and deep lavender, all with bone white or mist blue with vista blue.

  This model was a valve mantel mainstay throughout the 1960's and was still being sold new until 1972. By 1972 the B15 was only available in grey.  Price in 1972 was $65.

  Silicon Chip, July 2013, page 93, proposes a modification to prevent radiated IF feeding back into the front end which can cause instability.

  They suggest adding two 47pF caps. One between the junction of R6 & R8 and chassis & the other from pin 1 (or 7) of the 6AQ5 to the chassis. This will drop the unwanted IF by 20 to 30dB.
