The Radiosonde is a meteorological instrument with VHF transmitter which is hung from a balloon released into the atmosphere. As the balloon goes up the Radiosonde records air pressure, temperature and relative humidity and sends this information back to a Meteorological Office receiver.
The instruments, transmiter and battery are mounted in a weatherproof cardboard box.
Earlier, similar instruments were made by Astor from 1941.
