  • Anotaciones
  • The AMP 501780-1 FDDI (Fiber Distributed Data Interface) Connector is an ANSI X3.166-1989 compatible Fixed Shroud Duplex (FSD) polarized snap-fit connector with side latch mating, keying possibility and bend-limiting strain relief.

The connector is intended for 4.8 mm diameter round duplex ('Dualan') optical fiber cable and It has twin free-floating 2.5 mm diameter ceramic/stainless steel ferrule assemblies for multimode fibres with 125 µm cladding. Insertion loss is typically 0.6 dB, with less than 0.1 dB change after 500 mating cycles. The body material is Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBT), the strain relief is polypropylene, and the operating temperature range is -20 to +65 ˚C.

AMP manufactured a large family of compatible products for the FSD system. These included coupling adapters to connect FSD to FSD, FSD to ST bulkhead adapters, wall outlets, patch panels and wiring closet hardware. The transceiver adapter shown could be supplied in PBT plastic or nickel plated zinc, and with M3 or 4-40 UNC mounting inserts.

A duplex assembly kit with polishing bushing for epoxy termination was available for the connector as Part No. 501795-1. With this jig both optical fibres can be polished at the same time.
