Compatible with desktop Apple PowerMacs including G3 iMacs, but not with G4 flat screen iMacs or with G5 or later Macintosh models.
The Plain Talk microphone incorporates a JRC 2118 amplifier IC that is powered by the voltage picked up by the extended tip of its proprietary 3.5 mm jack plug, which is longer than a standard one.
When powered in this way, the microphone produces a line-level output for a Macintosh computer line-level audio input. (Which is often labelled somewhat misleadingly with a microphone icon). Note that many later Macintoshes have a standard audio input jack socket instead of the special powered one, although they still require a line-level input and will produce very weak sounds if used with a microphone without an amplifier.
Contrary to some reports the microphone is mono, not stereo.
Adhesive pad for attaching the microphone to support such as a display monitor.
Supplied with a 2m40 (7' 10") cable. The part No. is embossed on the jack plug, not the microphone.
