  • Notes
  • QuickTake 200 was Apple Computer's third and last standalone digital camera, and a precursor of important technology to come. It was introduced in late 1996 and discontinued the following year. The camera was built by Fujifilm and is very similar to the Fuji DS-8, an improved version of the better-known DS-7 model.

    Resolution 640 x 480 pixels, 24-bit. (0.3 Mpx CCD)
8 mm lens, selectable f2.2 or f8 aperture.
Shutter speed 1/4 to 1/5000 sec.
    Approximately equivalent to ISO 100.
10 sec self-timer with indicator light.
    3 selectable focus ranges:
    9 - 13 cm, 45 - 90 cm, > 90 cm.
46 mm colour LCD display and clip-on optical viewfinder.
(The LCD display can be turned off to conserve the batteries)
    Tripod mount.

QuickTake, BMP, JPEG, PICT or TIFF image formats.
Storage on 2 MB or optional 4 MB 5V SmartMedia card.
NTSC video output and RS-232C connection to computer modem port.
Requires a MacOS computer with a 68040 or PowerPC processor.

Power supply 6v using 4 AA batteries or optional AC power adapter.
    500 mW standby, 4.5 W operating.
Automatic power-off after 2 minutes. (Except in computer mode)
Owing to the high current drain, battery life was short and it was preferable to operate the camera from the AC power adapter when possible.
