  • Anotaciones
  • First model of the 1934 Caliph Console with the elongated peephole dial and "thermometer-light" tuning, also referred to as the blinklight tuning model.

Astor called the later version the Aero Dial Caliph which did not have blinklight tuning.

Both models used the PZ chassis essentially the same as the Astor Mickey Mouse OZ chassis with the OZ power plug removed and the power cable arranged to enter the hole where the OZ speaker change over switch was mounted.

This version of chassis could possibly be identified by earlier serial numbers(TBC) and has a saturable transformer connected in the IF B+ circuit which controls the current in a special winding on the power transformer which feeds the dial light. Both Caliph models used the same power transformer which had this additional winding designated “D” on the schematic compared to the OZ.
