The set was intended as a primary vehicle station with facilities for quick removal from the vehicle to be used as a ground station. Transport by man-pack was by three man-carried loads.

Immersion covers were provided with the man-carried station for fully water-proofing the radio for use in beach landings and river crossings.

Covered 2 to 8 MHz in two bands.

    Production commenced in March 1943.

Set consists of the transceiver itself and a separate vibrator power supply unit.
The vibrator power supply operates from a 12 V accumulator developing 300 V at 80 mA for the transmitter and 150 V, dropped by a series resistor for the receiver.
