  • 400 Chippendale

The first model Series 400 uses the two chassis: 8076 tuner and 8078 PSU (PSU = power supply). The 4 AF output tubes are in parallel push-pull for a maximum of 3 speakers.
Cabinet 400 Chippendale: Seems to have been changed for the same style number during the years.
In the season 1931/32 Capehart has made a model 400 style Chippendale for $ 1095, a model 401 style Chinese Chippendale for $ 995 and a model 402 style Adam for $ 895. These were the only models for ths first season, followed by 400A, 401A, 402A and (late) a new style 404 Chateau. Chinese Chippendale was only made in the first season.
See here the "Common information for the Capehart model pages for the 1930s and 1940s". We have listed first a price of $ 1123, but Robert Baumbach tells us in his book the present price of $ 1095.
McMahon shows two entries for the same price: either 4 x 45 or 4 x 47 output tubes.
