  • Capehart Amperion model 1
Walnut and Satinwood Cabinet. See this video for the Amperion playing mechanism.
Capehart's first Player was the series Orchestrope for 28 records, 56 sides continous play from 1928, introduced still as ""Capehart Automatic Phonograph Co.". In March 1930 came a less expensive Amperion line with a simple turning changer for 10 to 16 recrods, turning, followed by models with the drop-type only "10-12" mechanism in 1931. The main success was later the changer 16-E etc. - see more details and summaries here.

Most probably there are two different model 1: On page 201 of "Radio Collector's Guide 1921-1932" we find a superhet 1 for $ 169 as a lowboy cabinet for broadcast reception with AVC and a dynamic speaker, but no record player. In the "Grinder" (Radio Collector's Directory and Price Guide, 2nd edition, page 144, there it is a lowboy radio with phono. For the dating: By the tubes, the model can not be before 1932 and McMahon did stop 1932. On page 16, Robert W. Baumbach shows some examples for Amperion changers, one is a model 1 Amperion for $ 650 which measures 32 1/4 x 45 x 20 3/4 inch, a console with Walnut and Satinwood cabinet, but no receiver. The Amperions were started March 1930.
