  • U.S. Signal Corps Radio Transmitter, made by Allen D. Cardwell, Brooklyn, NY. Only a few of these were made, this one is serial number 31. This is Model BC-86-B. Transmits on 600-1000 KC. Used after WW1 by the Army troops, not many survived. The wood case is solid, and still retains the original Army paint. Has the original Signal Corps metal tag on top. The bakelite panel has no cracks or chips. Huge knife switch to go from transmit to receive. Large rotary tap switch for antenna tuning. The transmitter has a VT-2 (or WE 205A) tennis ball tube, and (2) VT-4 (or WE 203A) tubes. The chassis looks complete. Has the original transformers on the bottom. Original wiring diagram in the back lid. Transmitted in Morse Code and Voice transmission, with telegraph key and microphone inputs.
