  • Anotaciones
  • Type "A" cylinder graphophone, circa 1897. This is the oldest graphophone that the average collector can find; introduced at the end of 1896, it has an open spring (like Edison's Gem) and was succeeded in 1898 by the "AT" model.

Original description from: “Fonografi e Grammofoni” by Christopher Proudfoot, Italian edition “Silvana Editoriale” 1980.

Grafofono a cilindri tipo "A", 1897 circa.

Edizione Italiana Silvana Editoriale, 1980.

Reiss lists this as manufactured in Washington DC from 1896-1897 and cost $25 USD when first introduced. It is fairly rare with an estimated value of $1,500 USD (2007).

They moved and manufactured in New York from 1897-1898 and cost $25 USD when first introduced. It is somewhat rare with an estimated value of $850 USD (2007).
