The CH-704 is a 4-band, fully transistorized portable receiver which may be operated using internal "D" cell batteries or from an external 12 VDC source.
The Marine (1.6-5.0 MHz), Broadcast (535-1605 kHz), and Beacon (150-400 kHz) bands are available for direction finding. A VHF/FM (148-174 MHz) band is available for reception only.
Consolan navigational signals, VHF/FM weather, and single side band signals can be received. In addition to the tuner there are two fixed crystal positions available for instant tuning on the marine band.
For radio direction finding (RDF) this unit has a rotating ferrite loop antenna, an Azimuth dial, and a telescoping "sense" antenna. Additionally, there is a built in pelorus which may be used to take visual bearings.
"VHF/FM" reception is facilitated using a second telescoping antenna.
The IF frequency is 455 kHz for Marine, Broadcast, and Beacon bands and 10.7 MHz for VHF/FM.
