  • October 1921, Crosley Manufacturing Co. offered in "Radio News" on page 314 seven different radio cabinets with the two choices: Gum (cheaper), Mahogany or Quartered Oak under Radio Dept. R-4B, Cininnati, Ohio. The smallest was for Panel size 6 x 7 inch with inside dimensions of 6.5 x 5.5 x 7 inch. The biggest case was for 12 x 21 inch, inside dimensions of 20.5 x 11.5 x 10 inch. Also the panels could be ordered. Crosley offers free bulletins about new products already in October 1921. Click here for a summary of early Crosley and history.
1919 Powel Crosley began to produce phonographs by buying Charles Kilgour's woodworking shop on Vanalia Avenue that made phonograph cabinets. Therefore Crosley probably offered radio cabinets already under the name "Americo" (American Automobile Accessories Company). This name was changed into Crosley Manufacturing Co. in 1921.
