- Bemerkung
-
The "Radio Collector's Guide 1921-1932" names it "Harko". This model was (in October 1921) first named "Crystal Set", and in November 1921 already "Harko" and also "Harko Radio Receiver" - not to be confused with Harko, the audion, which has the name Harko Sr or Harko Senior. We believe this to be a printing error, but in "Radio Magazine", December 1921 (page 239) one can find an ad reading "Harko Radiator Receiver".
The "Crystal Set" resp. "Harko" has not to be confused with "Harko Detector Unit", also called "Harko Junior" in the first catalog page 6 for connection with the two-step amplifier.
As you see here, the question of the different prices, $ 7 or 9 is not answered yet. We might have to split this model to comply with catalog and advertisements. Besides that, later a crystal detector was made with 4 binding posts and an additional tuning knob.
By the way: Precision Equipment Co. (ACE) was controlled by Powel Crosley, beginning 1923 - and was brought into Crosley Radio Corp. in 1924. Later he bought also AMRAD etc. Click here for a summary of early Crosley models and Crosley history.
