Instrument battery, but used in USA for Pocket radios using miniature valves such as 1V6 (leads to models). Alkaline version is available (2013) at $28 to $35 from other manufacturers (Ever Ready now owned by Eveready/Energiser).

Consists of 30 layer cells with a smallest size snap connector (PP3 size). Later BLR102 uses 30 x Alkaline button cells.

Modern replacements use Alkaline button cell stack. Early versions used "tin plate case" and may have been introduced after card cases discontinued on "Layer cell" packs. Later versions use plastic casing.

A replica can be made with 14 x CR2032 Lithium coin cells (16 will fit in the package, since there is less droop, 14 rather than 15 x 3.2 is the more accurate nominal voltage, arranged in four stacks 12.8mm high in the 14mm internal depth ). A Pico fuse required to avoid fire risk (fits inside package). The coin cells can be as cheap as €15 per hundred from Asia.
