- Notes
-
Typical Asian clock radio except for the use of a PP9 (large 9V dry cell battery) and no mains option. Unusually has a carrying handle, but of course when "upright" the scale is the "wrong" way round compared to speaker as it is designed to be used lying flat as unlike most Table "Clock Radio Alarms" it's a true portable.
Telescopic aerial.
Also unusual for a "clock Radio" is the 3.5mm Earphone socket.
The Skyleader 6800 and Skyranger 6802 (made in Malaysia) and Skytime Clock Radio 6801 (made in Hong Kong) are the very last Ever Ready models. The company was the subject of a hostile takeover by Hanson Trust in 1981. There was one production run in 1982, the 1983 sales were from stock. At least some distributed by BEREC, normally the Ever Ready Export company, but just prior to Ever Ready take over by Hanson, the entire group (1981) became BEREC. Hanson changed the name back to Ever Ready in 1982, so the BEREC label may really mean Ever Ready UK, not BEREC, the export division set up in 1950s.
Problem of quality on all three models in the series. The Skytime had PCB track errors either corrected at factory or by Ever Ready in the UK. Very many models returned by Dealers for repair at point of sale.
1.5V C size cell for clock under metal plate in Battery compartment.
The Clock IC in the LCD module. Two transistors for the LCD clock switch / beeper.
The Audio out is a uA7303TC 8 pin DIL.
There are ten diodes.
