Large AB battery pack used in Zenith Trans Oceanics, Zenith Universal portables and other multiband tube portables.
Equivalents:
- Zenith Z-985
- Burgess G6B60
- Eveready 752
- Neda 400
- Hallicrafters P999
- Ray-O-Vac AB995
- Sears 6401
- RCA VS047
Unlike the Neda 401 / Eveready 753 there doesn't appear to be a UK Ever Ready equvalent.
Various sizes are given and also some evidence that later the pack was a little shorter or different brand was slightly smaller.
Contained 4 stacks of 15 layer cells for 90V HT and 6 off "F" type cells (about 50% longer than D cells) for 9V LT.
Battery compartment can be misleading for size as the radioconnector protrudes more than other types of battery and many Zenith Transoceanic sets used a separate Z1 cell for scale lamp/dial bulb.
Dimensions given vary:
- W: 343 ... 368 mm
- H: 104 ... 114 mm
- D: 63.5 ... 70 mm
Note that on a Zenith Transoceanic the base of the battery is toward front panel and thus H & D of the compartment are swapped.
