    Versions: Over the years the outer package and branding varies. Internal constuction in 2013 versions similar to 1950s (Pitch seal rather than plastic stopper at top of cell).

    509 version rebranding later as "Super Heavy Duty" and  "Lantern Battery Built To Last" (Germany 1970s 11 DM). Also sold as  EV10S (packaging variation)

    Current (2013) version is model 510S

    Compatible/Identical with UK Ever Ready 996  (also PJ996) now replaced by Eveready 996 in the market previously Ever Ready markets acquired by Energiser.

    Various outer cover materials during life, by 2000s using two piece moulded plastic.

    Used in some UK radio models singly or two centre tapped 12V supply. US manufacturers preferred the  similar 744 pack which has a socket rather than springs.
