Radio with Clock

The model of this Freshman radio is unknown, and no schematic has been found as of 2020.  The tube types are embossed in the tube sockets.  From the tube types, it is likely this is a 1930-1931 model radio.  Top left knob is Tone or possibly antenna tuning, bottom left knob is Off-Volume, and right knob is main Tuning.

It tunes the Broadcast AM band, and incorporates an electric clock in the center of the speaker grill.  The clock is not self-starting; the small spinner wheel behind the glass cover must be spun after plugging in the radio.  The radio's tuning dial is on the right.

The Chas. Freshman Co. was purchased by Freed Eismann in 1928, so this radio would have been sold by the Freshman division of Freed Eismann.  The escutcheon says "Freshman Products," which was a marketing term used by the Chas. Freshman Co.  The speaker names Frank Reichman, who was principal engineer at Oxford Speaker Co., and cites Lektophone patent numbers.  There is some evidence the radio chassis was manufactured by Belmont.
