    History of the car with this radio inside by NRM: Railway carriage, Great Western Railway, Royal Saloon, No 9007, formerly used by Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, built Swindon Works, 1944-1945. Built on under frame from war damaged stock and used until 1948 as VIP saloon. Converted for royal use in 1948 and after the death of King George VI in 1955 converted to run with 9006 for Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. It was extensively modified to provide the main accommodation but without any catering facilities. Withdrawn from service in 1979.
