  • The General Electric model 803 TV is a 10" table set introduced in 1948. It has a 13 channel VHF TV tuner, as well as coverage of the AM and FM radio bands. The IF circuitry is somewhat unusual in that it uses double conversion for the FM audio (21.9 and 4.5 MHz IF stages) for both FM and TV. Unlike later designs with intercarrier audio IF, this set uses a 6BE6 second mixer tube for the conversion from 21.9 to 4.5 MHz. The audio IF stages have IF tranformers for both 4.5 MHz and 455 kHz to cover the needs of the FM and AM bands. A separate 6BE6 tube serves as the AM converter.
