- Anotaciones
- The General Electric model E-155 is the top model of the Colorama line. It is listed at Rider's GE 8-82 through 8-92 and has a Pentagrid Converter. The E-155 features the Colorama tuning indicator (see post 5 etc.). A 6K7 commands depending on the AGC line the saturation of the "magnetic amplifier", a saturable core reactor. The reactor is in series with a row of 4 red stained pilot lamps and 3 green stained light bulbs behind the scale which turn the light to green when a carrior (station) is tuned in. Weak stations will produce a small color change and strong stations larger changes - a smooth process. This was a novelty in 1936 for GE sets - the Magic Eye was just on the market but GE wanted first to have it's own gadget which was a problem to service men and the cost was over twice that of the tuning eye. There are two additional "Personalizer Lights".
The model E-155 has AFC (Automatic Frequency control) and silent tuning, noise limiter and degeneration. The limiter control is a 6H6. The model can have a 25 cycle (C) or 60 cycle mains transformer which came in two versions, one fix for 105-120 volts (A), the other for 105 to 250 volts with 4 tappings (V). Band A (long wave) is for 140 - 420 kc, the band B (Broadcast) covers 540 - 1620 kc, the band C (Fishery, Police etc.) 1610 - 5580 kc and band D (SW) 5.5 - 18.1 mc and E 17.5 - 70 mc (UHF).
