  • The General Electric P-796B is a portable battery operated 5 transistor AM band receiver.  The AM band frequency tuning range is 540 to 1600kHz.  Has built-in loopstick antenna.  Uses Qty(4) "D" 1.5V batteries.

    This model is part of the P-795, P-796, P-797 and P-798 family of models, which have the same cabinet but have different colors.  The various letters behind each model number indicate the circuit differences.

    Different types of transistors possible - see slightly different parts on the notes of the schematic. Batteries for normal usage of 175 to 250 hours. Leather case, right side tuning knob, left side on/off and volume knob.

    The SAMS Photofact Set 421, Folder 8 calls out models P760A and P761A. However the SAMS index for model P-796B refers to this same Set and Folder and so therefore is applicable for this model also.
