This is a US version of a radio manufactured by Trans-aire around 1964. Trans-aire typically branded their radios under various trade names. While this US model is branded as "Montvale," 100,000 units of essentially the same radio were manufactured by Trans-aire with brand name "Eastern" under a US government contract and delivered to Viet Nam during the last four months of 1964. It is unclear whether the Montvale was made in the US (before or after the 100,000 Eastern units were shipped), or manufactured in Hong Kong in parallel with the Eastern units, which were made in the US.
The single jack on the Montvale was probably intended for external power input.
