Commentator unit 34EA-8

Commentator desk unit for Kajaani 34EA- series outdoor broadcast mixers. This desk contains microphone preamplifiers for 2 commentators and 1 interview microphone, headphone amplifiers with volume control, connectors for 2 headsets and interview microphone / guide signal in-out. 

The purpose of this unit is to be installed into a commentator booth at a sports field, and it will be connected to the mixer (in OB van or a separate mixing booth) by a multicore cable. The system has talkback functions to the mixing engineer or broadcast house. Requirement from the mixer side is the communications unit 34EA-5 (fits the 34EA-82 and 34EA-122 motherboards)

in early 1990's (as several manufacturers introduced headsets with electret microphone), all the commentator's units were modified to have a phantom supply inside. There was no spare lead in the multicore cable to feed the phantom power, so it was generated locally from the +15V supply.
