  • Bemerkung
  • The Lowther Corner Reproducer Model TP1 is one of the most outstanding electro-acoustic developments of the age.

It should be regarded as a musical instrument rather than just another loudspeaker, since its design, derived from basic acoustic principles, preserves to an extraordinary degree the true relationship between fundamental and harmonics of both low and high frequencies.

The configuration of the cabinet enables the reproducer to fit neatly into a corner of the Listening Room, and at the same time utilizes the corner itself as an extension of the bass horn.

The Corner Reproducer incorporates the Lowther Drive Unit PM3 which has been specially engineered to conform with the particular acoustic requirements of the enclosure.

For this reason, the Corner Reproducer is only sold complete with the Drive Unit and likewise, the PM3 cannot be purchased separately.

The PM3 Drive Unit incorporates a uniquely designed rear chamber orifice that pressure drives the 259 cm long folded exponential bass horn. This combination reproduces bass frequencies completely free of all resonance and boom.

The middle and high frequencies, being derived from the same speech coil that drives the bass horn, are segregated by compliances throughout the twin diaphragm structure to ensure the preservation of the relationship of fundamental to harmonics.

The purity of the higher harmonics is determined by the use of the Lowther Full Stabilizer.

The configuration of the Full Stabilizer with the Drive Unit prevents cross-talk within the inner cone, extends the band pass by raising the effective efficiency of the direct emission from the speech coil, and finally prevents inner cone break-up under transient conditions. (Donald Chave’s US Patent 2,808,895)

With the overall efficiency of the combination reaching the fantastic level of 50% the Corner Reproducer can be used for a wide range of listening requirements and enables a much lower-powered amplifier to be employed than would normally be necessary.

However, from the whisper level to the full dynamic output of the combination, the balance between the frequencies remains unaltered over the entire range from 40 Hz to 20 kHz.

Three versions of the Corner Reproducer are available.

The standard version is Type A, but the alternative Types C and D have been specially introduced to blend with different styles of domestic furnishing.

Type B is only executed in burr Walnut or curl Mahogany (Special order only).

By fitting the PM3/5 the increased gap flux provides detail of performance above reproach.
