The BC-222 is a battery operated portable transceiver developed for the US Army Artillery. Operating frequency bands are 27.7 - 38.5 MHz (Coil A) and 36.9 - 52.2 MHz (Coil B), the frequency coil not in use is fixed by two metal braces at the left inside the cabinet. Each set is individually calibrated and has it's specific calibration crystals, calibration marks are red lines on the dial.
Uses antenna AN-29 or AN-29B, earphone HS-22, microphone T-24 and battery BA-32.
Instructions in Technical Manual TM 11-238. Usually the schematic is found on the inside of the protection cover.
Developed by the Signal Corps Laboratories and produced by several contractors,including Majestic Radio Television Corp., Chicago, IL and Rauland Corp., Chicago, IL.
The BC-222 transceiver is part of the radio set SCR-194 and provided voice communication over short distances, nominally up to 5 miles.
