With germanium or silicon point contact diode as UHF mixer. This converter has classic styling and it was one of the very first UHF converters. It was a very popular model. Converts US-UHF Channals 14-83 into US-VHF Channel 5 or 6, uses the Mallory Inductuner, OEM Production with Type/Brands: Arvin 3000, Alliance AC-80, Sylvania C33M, CBS-Columbia, Silvertone 6950 (Sears, Roebuck & Co.), Sparton, Mall-Ex, Crosley DU-UHFP, Sutco 23A.
Earlier that same year, a 3-tube chassis version Mallory TV-101 [Early] was manufactured. The earlier circuit also uses the 6AF4 oscillator and 1N72 or 1N82 mixer, followed by a 6BQ7 or 6BK7 IF amp, with a 6X4 (instead of the selenium rectifier stack) for high voltage.Note that the 3-tube Early version has a S/N less than 200,000; the 2-tube Late version has a S/N 200,000 and above.
