• Tuning indicator is a light bulb with moving shade over it driven by a moving coil similar to a meter.  It illuminates a vertical scale.  The greater the signal strength, the longer the illuminated part of the scale.

  It optionally mutes during tuning. A greased bakelite disc is on the tuning spindle has a fork that closes a pair of contacts and only mutes the set while the spindle is turned, if enabled.

  The volume control is on the right hand side of the cabinet, so it can be adjusted with the lid closed.

  There is a preset tone control switch.

  The turntable has a speed control to vary slightly above or below 78 rpm.
