- Bemerkung
- The Marconiphone T24DAB brand "His Masters Voice" has been anounced in October 1950 and sales adverts are existing of at least February 1951 and September 1951. Our schematics show a X17 as first valve but maybe there are also some later models with a X18. The original listing is also N18, ZD17, W17 and X17. Original selling price without purchase tax and batteries was £ 13 8s 6d. Line power is AC/DC, batteries are B126 (Ever Ready 90V HT) and 5 times U2 (7.5V LT). See also the variant for schematics.

I received some pictures of the Marconiphone T24DAB and wanted to upload - but we display two different T24DAB here. One claims Medium and Short waves the other Medium (187-565 m) and Long (1000-2000 m). I believe that the ordinary Marconiphone T24DAB has Medium and Long waves. Is there also one with Medium and Short waves?
In an other place (not RMorg) I see a X18 instead of X17 as first valve - but our schematics show a X17 which is a DK91 or 1R5. X18 is a DK92 or 1AC6.
The Marconiphone T24DAB has been released in October 1950 for a price of £ 13 8s 6d excluding batteries and purchase tax (Source: "The Portable Collection"). Battery Ever Ready B126 (90v HT) & 5 x U2 (7.5v LT). or Mains power AC/DC 195-255V.
The source "Vintageradio.me.uk:
Mains (Metal rectifier)/Battery. Note. Valve line up in my set is listed as:N18 ZD17 W17 X17 or (US) 3Q4 1S5 1T4 1R5 365Khz = IF.
A similar Radio, the Vidor CN426 is from 1954 but not this one. I'm quite sure that the T24DAB has been announced in 1950 and possibly also sold in that year. A Marconiphone advert from February 1951 was quite an early advert for a "Summer" product, The Marconiphone advert from September 1950 shows a range of products from the 1950 catalogue - on top the picture of the T24DAB. I will change the year on both models (ex 1945 ? and 1954).
The only question stays:
Are there two different models with the same case?
But I also would like to know until when this set was sold.
