  • This transceiver radio used by Special Operations Executive (SOE) and was conceived in 1944. It was the smallest transceiver used during World War II and was completely miniaturized, except for the "lock-in" American tubes.

    SOE-Designator: Type 21 Mk.III.

    Power output: 5 watts.
    overage 3.2 to 5.25 mHz, "Blue" band, 5.2 to 9.55 mHz, "Red" band.
    ore than 4000 were made by Marconi. It was designed as a replacement for the bulky Type 3 Mk.II (B2) suitcase radio. It was the smallest transceiver made during WW2 and was favoured by resistance groups and Special Forces operating behind enemy lines.

    It was available in two versions;
    1. A container version comprising two watertight metal containers allowing it to be dropped by parachute to resistance groups. The larger container, marked 'C, held the transceiver, whilst the smaller one, marked 'D', contained the SPARES-box and a vibrator pack for 6V operation.
    2. Small suitcase containing the transceiver and SPARES box

    Measurements & weight: 

    "C" measures 27 x 23 x 11 cm and weighs 5.5 kg.

    "D" measures 17.5 x 13 x 22 cm and weighs 4.5 kg.
