  • Remarques
  • One of the first wireless receivers, made by Marconi in 1896. It was used in his celebrated public demonstration of wireless in London’s Toynbee Hall in 1896.

A coherer was linked to a device such as a recorder or a bell to register the signal and to a ‘tapper’. A mechanical tap to the coherer released its metal filings, making it non-conductive and ready to receive the next signal.

Mounted in a steel box with front lid are the Coherer, tapper, relay and battteries, all mounted on a teak panel the slides out of the box.

Powered from 6, Obach's Patent batteries in series.

The relay is a Siemens Bros. & Co./London No. 12797.
