  • The Marconi TF 2401 counter is a basic instrument into which plugs a frequency range unit and a function unit.

    The plug-in units at present available are a 50 MHz frequency range unit (TM 7557), a counter-timer function unit, and a 500 MHz converter unit (TM 7558).
    When used with these units the instrument performs the following basic measurements: Frequency, period, multiple periods, time interval, frequency ratio, and many other instructions.
    Features include an 8-digit read-out with memory.

    Basic Counter TF 2401

    DISPLAY: 8 digits in line, with memory.
    GATE TIMES (frequency measurement): 1 µsec to 100 sec in decade steps, instrument reads in c/s, kc/s, or Mc/s, with automatic decimal point indication.

    STANDARD FREQUENCY STABILITY:

    + 2 parts in 10' short term.
    ± 1 part in 103 per day.

    50 Mc/s Range Unit TM 7557
    (Input Channel A)

    RANGE: 1 C/S to 50 Mc/s.
    SENSITIVITY: 0.1 V RMS., 10 c/s to 50 Mc/s.
    INPUT IMPEDANCE: Approximately 500 kΩ shunted by 25 pF.

    Counter Timer Unit TM 7558
    (Input Channels B and C)

    RANGE: 0 to 10 MC/S.
    SENSITIVITY: O.1 V RMS. 1 c/s to 10 Mc/s.
    INPUT IMPEDANCE: Approximately 1MΩ shunted by 30 pF.

    PERIOD AND TIME INTERVAL MEASUREMENTS:

    TIMING SIGNALS: 1 c/s to 10 Mc/s in decade steps.
    The instrument reads in sec, msec, or µsec, with automatic decimal point indication.

    MULTIPLE PERIOD MEASUREMENT:

    TIMING SIGNALS: 1 Mc/s or 10 Mc/s. The instrument reads in µsec with decimal point indication.

    MULTIPLYING FACTOR: (Multiple periods and multiple frequency ratio measurements) 10 to 108 in decade steps.
