  • Annotazioni
  • The Monitor Crystaliner Signal Generator is a crystal controlled Signal Generator.  The fixed frequencies are 175, 262, 370, 455, 465, 600, 1400, 1500, 1700 and 1000 kHz which are marked on the black big selecting knob. Strong harmonics every 1000 kc and 7000 kc are used for short wave band settings. 2-step attenuator.

At least in 1946, Monitor Products made this signal generator for IF and RF, named Monitor Crystaliner. They made at least three models "Crystaliner", the earliest with no power switch. At least some of them have a line cord resistor instead of a transformer - and often the "curtain burner cord" was replaced by a transformer by users. Three tubes 6J5 are used in the Crystaliner 101 - including as line rectifier. There are no tuned circuits in the Crystaliner. This generator works like the mixer of a radio - the reference oscillator has a 7 MHz crystal that beats with the crystals in the switch, all of which are the desired frequency plus 7 MHz. According to an ad in "Radio & Television Retailing", July 1946, the Crystaliner were sold by Metropolitan Electronic & Instrument Corp., 6 Murray Street, New York 7 - but probably also from other assorted vendors. This Crystaliner is a competition for the Bliley CCO-1A, another small multi-channel IF signal generator, which is also AC-DC.
