The Midwest A-17 features automatic frequency control (AFC), a 6AF6 tuning eye, motorized tuning with 6 station presets, 4 tone controls labeled Bass, Treble, Alto, and Soprano that can be switched on/off independently for a total of 16 different tone settings, and an auxiliary input labeled Television.
It receives 5 bands: A = 550-1500 KHz, B = 1.5-4.2 MHz, C = 4.2-12 MHz, D = 12-30 MHz, E = 125-350 KHz. It contains two speakers, an 11.5" electrodynamic woofer and a 3.5" permanent magnet tweeter. The speakers are coaxially mounted in a cardboard box designed to look like an organ pipe enclosure that is labeled "Organ-Fonic Tone Filter."
