  • Wireless Set No.12 is a ground / vehicle station transmitter developed in 1940/41. Frequency coverage 1.2 - 17.5 MHz in four ranges (1,2-2,55 / 2,5-5,3 / 5,2-10,5 / 10-17,5 MHz). Power output 25W on CW, 7W on MCW and telephony.
Normally associated with receiver R107 or R106 (HRO receiver).
In 1942, a 100 mil R/T has been developed, it became the Wireless Set No.12 HP (high power), in fact a Wireless Set No. 12 driving a 250 W RF amplifier in a separate cabinet.
An alternative was the no very successful Wireless Set No.23 and the Wireless Set No.33, which was in fact a W.S. No.12 with a RF power amplifier mounted on top of the set in the same cabinet.
The Wireless Set No.12 did replace the W.S. No.1 and the W.S. No.9 which was not very suitable to be used on the move, it was a direct replacement of the W.S. No.2 and it was replaced by the Wireless Set. No.53 in late WW II.
