- Wireless set No. 14: Longwave short range transceiver covering 290 - 410 kHz, AM (A3), Pout 5 Watts;
powered by 12 V accumulator (vehicle) feeding a rotary converter, 6 foot vertical rod antenna.
Used by British Army in different setups as short range communications set between tanks of a group or onboard Armoured Command Vehicles to reach vehicles in the near surrounding (400 - 800 yards, when on the move) like a house telephone.
The sets could be used to relay signals from a Wireless Set. No.9 to other vehicles in a group (for this purpose, a repeater unit had to be used (ARP12, ARP12, AR8)); when a second Wireless Set. No.14 was in use nearby, a rejector unit (in a separate small cabinet) had to be connected.
The combination of Wireless Sets No.9 and 14 has been replaced later by the popular Wireless Set No.19 with it's integrated "B Set" for short range inter - vehicle communications.
