  • Wireless set No. 23: Long range transceiver covering 1,12 - 13,55 MHz in nine ranges, AM (A3), MCW and CW (A1), pout 250 Watts;
    powered from a 4 HP twin cylinder Coventry-Victor motor driven generator delivering 16-22 V, 23 A and 2600 V, 0,25 A; 160 ft inverted L aerial on two 45 ft bakelite masts, roof aerial on vehicle for reception on the move;
    installed on two 4 wheeled trucks, one with the transmitter and an emergency receiver for reception on the move (no transmitting capabilities while on the move), the second with the main receiver R101 (later R107) and the receiving office.
    Used by British Army for longrange communications between Army corps and divisions.
    The set was to replace the Wireless Set No.3 on it's heavy 3 ton lorry; after the introduction of Wireless Set No.9, development of the Wireless Set No.23 was slowed down to become again high priority when there was an urgend need for long range communications after 1939.
    The set was replaced by Wireless Set No.33 after this became available and by Wireless Set No.12 HP.
