  • Remarques
  • Radio Receiver BC-224-A:  Aircraft receiver covering medium - and shortwaves in six bands, 1,5-3 / 3-5 / 5-7,5 / 7,5-10,5 / 10,5-14 / 14-18 MHz, modes AM (A3) and CW (A1, with BFO) powered by 14 V DC from aircraft on-board power system.

The first BC-224-A receiver was constructed by RCA to U.S. Signal Corps specifications.

The included original power supply was the BD-94-A 14V dynamotor and the matching shock mounting the FT-154.

Probably around 650 of these sets have been made by RCA in the years 1936/37 under contract SC-132373, the successor was the slightly improved BC-224-B with DM-24 dynamotor and the slightly deeper FT-154-(*) shock mount.

Based on U.S.Air Force receiver experience, improved models with suffixes BC-224-B / D and BC-224-E / -L with added longwave / beacon band coverage have been produced later, even more successful were the 28V DC versions of this receivers, the BC-348 receiver series.
