The successor of the original BC-224-B came with a modified frequency coverage, the 200 - 500 kHz longwave / beacon band was added and the shortwave coverage was compressed into five bands.

The included original power supply was the DM-24 dynamotor supply and the shock mount the matching FT-154-(*).

The RCA (Radio Corporation of America) produced the BC-224-E receivers from around 1940.

It was followed by the technically identical variant BC-224-G also made by RCA under contract and by the technically identical variant BC-224-H also made by RCA.

The Belmont Radio Corp. produced the variant BC-224-F with the output tube modified to a 6K6 under contract 634-WFSCPD-42, and the technically identical variant BC-224-K also was produced by Belmont Radio Corp.

Some models of BC-224-C were refurbished by Belmont Radio Corp. in 1943, and the 200 - 500 kHz longwave band was added.  These sets were labeled BC-224-L.

Produced in even bigger numbers were the very successful 28V DC versions of these receivers, the BC-348 receiver series, from BC-224 and BC-348 variants.  A total of over 100 000 sets were made.
