An article on Italian magazine "CQ Elettronica" of Mr. Umberto Bianchi, famous ex Italian Surplus expert  asserts that since 1.25 and 117 DC V batteries are difficult to find, this device can operate with more readily available batteries: 1.4 and 90 DC V.
