  • This model is similar to the earlier Unique 5, but uses different dials.  The test date on the example pictured is 2-8-29 which is very late for a 3-dial TRF.  This may be because the radio was produced using old stock parts purchased years earlier for the Unique 5, but unused due to slow sales.

    At the time, the USA was dumping excess production onto the Australian market, and local manufacturers were having trouble selling sets at a profit.  The introduction of greater tariffs in 1930 put an end to the importation of most sets from the USA and other countries.

    Mingay's Wireless Manufacturing Ltd. closed shortly after the production of this radio.
