  • Remarques
  • Power Amplifier and Pre-Amplifier set, mono.

Sold in many combinations and pre-built or in kit form.

One low budget combination was with a mono pre amplifier and a Mullard 510 monoblock power amplifier, sold as a mono amplifier, e.g. by the company ELFA in Sweden, where the monoblock came as a kit, but the preamp seems to have been pre-built.

The combination I own is with a Quad 22 stereo pre amplifier and two Mullard 510 monoblock power amplifiers.

If you refer to literature published by Mullard, available on the web, the term Mullard 510 most often seems to refer to the monoblock power amplifier.

The number of tubes in the monoblock power amplifier is what gave it its name 510, 5 valves 10W. There is 1 tube in the pre-amplifier.

The monoblock mains transformer has three taps. The middle one is most probably 220V, as mine were wired that way when built as kits in the early sixties. However, a change to the top tap was needed to avoid overheating the transformer. This tap probably corresponds to 240V. No marking on the printed circuit board.

Similar to the Siemens High Fidelity 510 Amplifier
