  • Uses Ever Ready AD1 or AD32 for 1.5V LT (300mA approx due to RF preamp) and Ever Ready B117 for HT (or equivalents). So perhaps more than 150 hours battery life.

    Similar cabinet and circuit concept to RCA 8BX6 (also related models 1946 to 1956), Braun Piccolo 50 series, Australian Philips 148 etc.

    The price in the UK was £ 17.15.0. Price without batteries. The flier tells us that the Murphy model B143 is the first post-war battery portable Murphy made. The cabinet design was made by David Ogle, best known for the Bush MB60/TR82/VTR103. The B143 was announced in December 1949 but we don't know if it was available in that year already.

    The chassis needs to be removed to change V1 and indeed to safely change the rest.
