Information by member Valery Gromov: "This PR-4P post-war model is existant since 1948, made by Radio Works No. 197 of Gorky-city (nowadays Nizhny Novgorod). The civil name of the factory was "Lenin Radio Works of Gorky-city" (Gorkovsky Radiozavod named after Lenin).
There is the two quite different models Air Force model US-4, using metal tubes with 6.3V filaments, and the US-4S infantry model, using glass tubes with 2V filaments. Both US-4 and US-4S were manufactured at Novosibirk Radio Works No. 590 (civil name "Novosibirsky Electrosignal") starting from 1943. It is unclear why there was already an US-4 designation for the HRO copycat in 1940 that was manufactured in Riga for the Red Army but was soon taken over by the Germans - and can now be found with the Wehrmacht Reichsadler."
Old information: AM/CW-receiver for millitary/airborne use, coverage from 0.17 to 12 MHz in five ranges. Needs Hi-Z headset. At first time radio set named US (universal superheterodyne),US-3 (in 1942), after WW2 named US-P, only last models named as PR-4 (P, R, V). Till 1941 produced in one of Moscow factories. After 1941 manufactured in Nizhegorodsk. Used as receiver-block in radio-stations RAF, RSB etc. Used motor type voltage conversion unit(Dynamotor/umformer) type RUK-300V (see foto). It works at 25,5V and supply radio tubes 6,3V (heating) and 200-220V (anode).
