  • The Ozarka model 90 has one dial (primary tuning control knob) plus two knobs. It uses a 4 gang variable condenser with a drum scale. On the Ozarka model 90 AC including the power supply one finds only a plate for "90". But there is also a DC (Battery) version existing. There are several cabinets for Ozarka 90 with different names added. Rider's Ozarka 1-2 shows the UY224 as RF tube, but according to Tyne this tube was announced in April 29, 1929! See this article.

Here is a typical case of what can happen when dating a model:
There is a catalog released in 1928 for selling 1929 models.
Normally then we can assume that we can put 1928/29 in as a true model season.

Ozarka 90 models are mentioned in this 1928 catalog for battery versions AND AC versions with the then "not existing" tube UX224. According to Tyne the tube UX224 used in these Carlton 90 models has been delivered not until April 1929. According to Riders (1-2) the AC model has one tube UX224 (first RF).

When creating a new model with date 1928/29 our system will bring a red note that there is a time conflict with the tube 24. Then either the tube date or the model date is wrong - or the model did not originally have the tube - is a later official replacement or even circuit change.

Naturally, quite some months before a tube release some or all who ask can get basic schematics for a new tube and will be informed that there will be new tubes, so that the manufacturer knows when being ready there is a demand. With that in hand, the radio manufacturers design their new model well advance of the tube release in quantities.

We still have to date the models for the year when it was first available - and that means in this case:
Ozarka 90 for battery use we can place for 1928/90 and the AC models like Carlton, Glencoe, Sensitone and Wilmette we have to place for 1929 or 1929/30.
